Westbrae Nursery:  Scheduling and Procedures around Covid-19

Westbrae Nursery will be open from 12pm-5:00pm, 7 days a week during the Covid-19 crisis (reference Order of the Berkeley Health Officer, section 10.f.iii; Westbrae is licensed by the Calif. Dept. of Food and Agriculture).

For your safety and ours, we are modifying our procedures in several ways.  If all of us work cooperatively by, patiently following the new procedures, using social distancing, washing or sanitizing hands, and, coughing or sneezing into elbows, our hope is that you can still have a safe and enjoyable experience at Westbrae.

Below are the new procedures.  We expect that initially they will cause some inconvenience, frustration, and added time, but we hope you will stick with it. We really appreciate your patience and support.

1) We will be operating with a skeleton crew to maximize the safety of our staff.   As a result, our customer service will be VERY "light" and you will not find us out in the yard with the plants or pots.

2) We will be operating in self-service mode only. Carry-out assistance will be suspended.  We will not be loading soil.   Please consider ordering online for soil, mulch, fertilizer, pesticides, and oak barrels at www.westbrae-nursery.com.

3) Payment will be accepted only by credit card.

4) Customers will NOT be allowed inside the shop, except for the indoor plant room.  Staff will ring up the merchandise at the doorway to the shop.  While waiting in line, we hope customers will practice social distancing.  Please consider ordering online for soil, mulch, fertilizer, pesticides and oak barrels at www.westbrae-nursery.com.

5) The indoor plant room will be accessed only from the driveway, not from the shop proper.  Indoor plant shopping will be self-service only.  To purchase an indoor plant, please bring it, or the label, back outside and around to the checkout area.  If there are already several people in the indoor plant room, please consider social distancing and wait until someone leaves.

6) On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, between 9am-12pm, we will open the store for a few customers at a time for help with heavy pots, special orders, large indoor plants, or any other issue that otherwise we will not have enough staff to address.  This is also the best time for calling in special orders.

We encourage you to try shopping online at www.westbrae-nursery.com for your soil, mulch, and fertilizer needs.  In most cases, delivery will be the same day.
